Kinzer is also saying Edwin will net as much in 3 years in Cleveland as he would 4 in Toronto because of taxes.

He's trying to cover his ass big time after screwing up so badly.

Perks?

You know what is a perk? $15 million more guaranteed, lol.

I know lol. Kinzer just keeps making it more and more obvious that he totally screwed this up.

Kinzer cost himself in the neighbourhood of 800K in commission on this deal too

Interestingly EE hit much better last season while playing 1B.

Thought focusing on just hitting might be better for him, but based on that maybe playing the field will be better for him.

It might also just be complete randomness or small sample sizes. In 2015 his splits were completely reversed, with a .993 OPS as DH and .816 OSP as 1B. And in 2014 they reversed again lol.

I think what that says more than anything is that EE's a good hitter, period.

Jays lose out on a fallback option.....Revere to the Angels

Revere's numbers absolutely cratered last season. He was somehow worth -1.2 WAR in only 375 plate appearances. I wouldn't have wanted him back at any salary.

I think there were other issues at play for Revere, injuries being the start...some bad luck in the BABIP department didn't help.

He is not a .217 hitter, and I think he is due for a bounceback, and may get it in LA.

that said...I didn't want him back anyway.

From The Star (don't generally agree with the article):

Sources have told the Star that the Jays had budged (bulged) “creatively” past the $80 million over four years they offered at the end of the season — to $80 million guaranteed plus vested (meeting certain performance incentive thresholds) or options that maxed out at $100 million. That deal was still on the table after Toronto inked Morales, in retrospect a too-hasty Plan B which so displeased Encarnacion that he stopped taking Atkins’ calls. Scooping middling Steve Pearce off the market then created a crowd at first base, though the Jays would have peddled Justin Smoak, even if it meant eating up to $2 million on the contract extension he signed in July. And, though Encarnacion was starting to get twitchy as suitors dwindled, agent Paul Kinzer purportedly sat stubbornly on their $125-million demand.

Jose Bautista Willing To Consider One-Year Deal

Veteran slugger Jose Bautista is willing to take a one-year contract, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports. There’s something of a catch, though: per the report, “he wants it to be at a higher value than the qualifying offer.”

Who else are the Jays going to get?

As it stands now they will be playing Pompey and Upton Jr in the outfield. Id take Revere over both those guys

Jays dont want Bautista back tho and therein lies the problem. They only offered him the qualifying offer to get the draft pick.

Revere has been overrated by Jays fans immensely. The guy has a .662 career OPS and just came off a year where he was worth -1.2 wins lol.

I'll take Pompey at 500K over Revere at 4M anyday.

Also, the biggest reason for me laughing, is the term "fallback option" when talking about Revere replacing guys who can hit more home runs in a week, than Revere has hit in his entire 748 game career so far.

I wonder if the Pirates would take Reese McGuire, Harold Ramirez and a fixed Francisco Liriano for him? Silly

I'm not sure I see a fit. I wouldn't want the Jays to part with either Stroman or Sanchez. The farm isn't too deep right now, especially with MLB ready talent.

Is McCutchen a good bounce back candidate?

Hell, since they got all of that for Hutch, the Jays could probably send them Happ and get Cutch + 2 prospects in return. Silly

Is Pittsburgh under any significant payroll pressure?

Perhaps the Jays could help them out again. Silly
