Game Thread: Vancouver @ Nashville, 1/10/17

Wow, who knew Nashville could look so pretty?

The Canucks would like to come back strong from their loss on Saturday to their Calgary Flames, and get a chance to do so tonight against a Nashville Predator team which is in some injury trouble.  The Preds are 17-16-7 at the midway point of the season, and are coming off a pair of losses on the road as they meet Vancouver for the first time this year.

When you think Predator hockey, of course you think of strong defending.  This team isn't as strong in that area as in year's past, most notably with the move of defenseman Shea Weber to Montreal.  In his place Nashville received Norris winner P.K. Subban, but he is out long-term with what is rumoured to be a herniated disc.  Also out for the team are James Neal, Colin Wilson, Viktor Arvidsson and Miikka Salomaki (all forwards).  Their projected lineup therefore has some pretty unfamiliar looking names:

Forwards
Filip Forsberg - Ryan Johansen - Calle Jarnkrok
Colton Sissons - Mike Fisher - Austin Watson
Kevin Fiala - Mike Ribeiro - Craig Smith
Harry Zolnierczyk - Frederick Gaudreau - Pontus Aberg

Defense
Roman Josi - Ryan Ellis
Mattias Ekholm - Matt Irwin
Anthony Bitetto - Yannick Weber

Goaltenders
Pekka Rinne

Of course they're not totally without talent, as you can see by familiar names such as Johansen, Forsberg, Josi and Weber... oh, *that* Weber.  Vancouver will have to play well in order to come away with two points, all the same.

Ryan Miller is expected to start tonight in the Canuck net, and put his personal five-game winning streak on the line.  Chris Tanev is slated to return to the lineup, but if unable, will be replaced by Andrey Pedan.  Ben Hutton has not travelled with the team and is out indefinitely with a hand injury.

Puck drops at 5 PM (SNET-P).

Go Canucks Go!

Who are these people, hahahaha....

Then again, I'm sure the Pred fans will look at our lineup and ask the same about, Megna, Chaput, Gaunce, Stetcher and Tryamkin... ( and likely a few more... LOL )

Big game tonight... Nothing like the first game back after a long winning streak has been snapped... For the most part, this team hasn't shown any signs of giving up on the year, even when they were losing 9 in a row... Let's see some more of that resilience stuff tonight!!!

GO CANUCKS GO!!!

I've never been there before, but once I went there twice...

That was one ugly period of hockey. Both teams lucky it's still scoreless, more so the canucks.

Yikes. I want pretty hockey from now on. Just tuning in.

Speaking of ugly, Nashville needs to lose for those uniforms alone. Yech.

And for giving up Shea Weber . . . Silly

That's a good trade for the Preds. It will get ugly for the Habs soon.

Yes, those uniforms are terrible. Mustard yellow

Meh.  Subban will be developing his showbiz career any day now  Wink

Actually i might even go so far as to argue that Weber will still be playing when Subban is gone.

Nice to see Tanev in the line up.

Friendly bet here.

Weber will be long gone before Subban. If I win you buy me a coffee and if you win I buy you and your gentleman friend a $100 gift card to BC Liquor Stores to select the romantic wine of your choice.

I usually get the Starbucks, talle Pike, black, no room. It costs $2.25...... damn, they raised the price 2 months ago.

I would get you a flat white at Starbucks.  That's a big fat $4.70 of decent coffee.

I'm not really a $100 on a bottle of wine kind of girl.
