Beats Haase, loses to Rafa. Nice bounce back after disappointing results in Hungary and Monte Carlo. Pending his FO draw, should be able to make a bit of a run.

Raonic pulls out of the French Open.

Nadal serving for the match against A. Zverev in the Rome final.

Nadal wins. 8th Rome title. 32nd Masters 1000 title, most in history. 78th singles title of his career, breaking a tie with John McEnroe for 4th all-time. Only behind Connors, Federer, and Lendl now. Regains world #1 as well with the win. Nadal will turn 32 in 2 weeks.

Really disappointing for Milos. He's not the most exciting player and he has his flaws, but for a 2-3 year stretch, he was a legitimate player that had the potential to make some really deep runs on any surface. He's just had so many injury problems lately and it's hard to imagine him returning to the level he was playing at a couple years ago.

Shapovalov beat Millman in his first round match and now faces Marterer. Jack Sock lost, who he was scheduled to face in the 3rd round, making Shapovalov's road to a 4th round match with Nadal a lot clearer.

13th seed Raonic wins his 1st round match at Wimbledon in straight sets. Polansky loses his in straight sets.

Shap actually has a pretty tough 1st round match considering he's seeded 26th. Plays Jeremy Chardy, who is ranked 46th in the world currently and just lost to Djokovic in the semis at Fever-Tree. How often does a seeded player face another Top 50 player in the 1st round at a major? Wouldn't think very often.

Pospisil is facing Kukushkin in his 1st round match, another guy coming off a semis appearance in his last tournament, where he beat Ferrer and Edmund, before losing to M. Zverev.

Some upsets at Wimbledon in the 1st round. 4th seed Sloane Stephens is DOMINATED in the 1st round, losing 6-1 6-3 to 55th ranked Donna Vekic. 5th seed Elina Svitolina loses in 3 sets to 57th ranked Tatjana Maria. 16th seed Coco Vandewghe also loses, 8-6 in the 3rd set to 42nd ranked Katerina Siniakova.

On the Men's side, 6th seed Dimitrov loses to Wawrinka in 4 sets. Gael Monfils set a new record for fastest serve at Wimbledon as he hit 150mph in the first set of his 4 set win over 23rd seed Richard Gasquet. Previous record was 148mph by Taylor Dent in 2010. 16th seed Borna Coric lost in straight sets as well to 67th ranked Daniil Medvedev.

Shapovalov with a nice opening win against a tough grass opponent. I think he’ll beat Paire and then he might have a tough match with Del Potro.

Pospisil lost and Bouchard won

Raonic with another straight sets victory in Round 2 over John Millman. All 3 sets went to a tiebreaker, and all 3 Raonic won the tiebreaker 7-4 lol. Very close match despite the end result.

17th seed Lucas Pouille has been upset by Dennis Novak in 5 sets, and Novak will play Raonic in Round 3.

Shap and Genie play tomorrow morning.

Genie loses to the 17th seed Barty, 6-4 7-5.

Shap on court now against Paire. Won the first set 6-0.

3rd seed Cilic was up 2 sets on 82nd ranked player in the world Guido Pella, and Pella came back and won in 5 sets.

Bad loss for Shap. He needs to start breaking through soon or will be overshadowed as the next big thing. Hopefully Milos pulls through, he had another unseeded player next and can maybe serve bot himself into the QFs

I don’t think Shap has fully taken advantage of the opportunity he’s had after his success at the Rogers Cup and US Open last year. He’s been very off and on and unable to string together consecutive good matches. Unless he’s able to duplicate his performance in North America last year, his ranking might drop to the 40s or 50s and he’s going to get less favourable draws. Obviously still loaded with talent and potential, but he’s gotta improve his mental game.

Meanwhile, FAA has been tearing up the Challenger circuit. In his last 4 tournaments he’s won one, lost in one final, just yesterday lost in a SF, and then he also did lose in the first round a couple weeks ago.

Raonic is cruising and should be able to get to the QF, and maybe even the SF. He’s gotten some good luck with his draw. We might be looking at a Raonic-Federer SF, but I won’t get too ahead of myself.

Shapo is 19. All the winners of the last 8 Grand Slams on the Men's side have been at or very near 30.
I think he's got time. He can and will get better because he has all the tools.
Raonic is 27. His biggest weapon remains his serve, but he's improved every other aspect of his game.

Aside from having all tools necessary to play well, the key to winning tennis these days is the return game. If a player isn't a good returner, he/she will lose more often than not and won't get far in the Slams.

Oh yeah Shap’s got plenty of time. Wasn’t implying he was done or anything. Just saying his ranking is likely to drop after the USO, and it’s a shame he couldn’t make deeper runs at many of the other tournaments over the past year to take the pressure off RC and USO.

He did make a good run at one of the American 1000 series events I think

I didn't like how Raonic played yesterday. It does not bode well for the QF.
Raonic tends to play down to his opponent's level. His 4th round match should have been over in 3 sets, but he looked bored and lost focus.
He can't afford to play like this and move into the semis.
