Cheers to Iggy

A good ol' Edmonton boy (well, St Albert but same diff) subjected to playing for two of his beloved Oilers most dispised rivals in Dallas, and the most torturous destination imaginable for a little boy from 'the chuck', Calgary. Wink

In all seriousness, and I hope the intro was taken in good fun, Iggy was a phenomenal all around player. He was an Oiler killer and I dreaded him coming to town. He played the game with passion and respect, he was all class and gracious in the most Canadian of ways, and he was a hell of an 'old time styles' power forward.

Cheers to Iggy

Ps Thank you for gifting that chance to Crosby for the golden goal.

His dad is involved in the community here in Edmonton.

I played ball hockey with his sister. She plays the game just as hard and fierce as Iggy did.

Great family.

For all of his scoring and point accolades, I can't imagine anyone was eager to drop the gloves with him.

Complete player and by all accounts, a stand up guy.

Congrats on a nice career, Iggy.

Easily one of the classiest guys that has ever played. I will always remember the sweet pass to Crosby for the game winning goal in the 2010 gold medal game.

Congrats Iggy.

I went to high school with him. It was a terrible high school with a lot of douchebags and imbeciles (including admin, staff and teachers). However, Iginla stood out as one of the good guys. He was a terrific person and became a great player.

P.S. He saw my first ever high school fight, lol. I remember him patting me on the back on my way to the principles office. Yup, that kind of school, lol.

Why aren't you a fan? What's not to like about Iginla, really?

wasn't aware Iginla was drafted by Dallas, but was traded to Calgary before ever playing a game...

Stars got 7 yrs after prime years of Niewendyk, for Iglina (and Corey Millen)

if they could turn back the clock, doubt Dallas makes that trade again.

Joe was key to their Cup as evidenced by his Conn Smythe. Dallas will aways make that trade.
