Again kudos to the scouting staff. There was some question marks against the scouting staff for choosing him over Jake Wise.

Imagine Jack Hughes on this team though? lol. Hughes projects more as a winger so imagine a line of, Hughes - Pettersson - Boeser?  Laugh

Amazing bit of talent that JB gathered in a short time with no top 4 picks.    It is quite incredible with Boeser being the steal of the century at 22 or was it 24?

So if DP is starting today, does that mean he is sitting against Russia on Monday? Assuming they are alternating till knockout rounds

DiPietro is great but i still think Demko is the future.

This is a great problem to have though lol. Most teams don't have one goaltending prospect. We have two.

Beautiful kid. DiPietro was the brightest spot on Team Canada this year. He needed help on offense and didn't get it. Not his fault, though he really seems to regret those goals. Those could've happened to Patrick Roy.

Canada needs to realize that this team just wasn't as talented as Finland and probably would've gotten bounced by a healthy USA squad. It just wasn't as good as hyped. Last year gave Canadian fans a false sense of security, as a very talent-light team won the Gold medal through hard work (and, frankly, a lot of help from the refs in the gold medal game). That just doesn't happen very often.

Next year, Canada will have a much more talented team with Lafrenierre a year older (yes, he sucked this year, but next year, he's virtually a guaranteed offensive threat) and some new young fresh blood.

The hockey world is changing and the Canadians and Russians are not the only "real threats" any longer.     The Americans came along some years back mainly because of Canadian and Euro hockey players playing and growing the game in the USA not to mention making little hockey players there.      Sweden and the rest are all more than legitimate contenders and no free rides exist anymore.   Having said that Canadians will win their share .......just not every year.

Its all good as these young guys are just preparing for the NHL anyway.     Sportsmanship should be more emphasized and the pressure on the young guys should rachet back a notch.

Mike McKenna gets claimed off waivers by the Flyers. The Comets play tomorrow afternoon and the Canucks tomorrow night in Toronto. Only 3 goalies between the two teams.

I've been at all the games (except today). The teams are playing way more structured hockey then years past. Euro leagues are playing north American style hockey. They are playing positions. Break outs etc.

It's great hockey. Canada got beat because they made the most mistakes. Teams were pretty even.
