Bag skate em???

After one loss?  What do you do when you actually need to send that message?

The Leafs have had their chances, Schneider has been great.

Andersen has not been great yet this year, near 4 GA.

Defence was suspect and Carrick is out forcing Rosen and Borgman to play.

Gardiner is always a liability.
Its been all year. One game is all they lost sure but they have been the worst defensive team in the league. The only reason our record doesnt reflect that is our offense has been so good.

Almost like they were supposed to go 82-0 or something.

It's funny, the other night when Leafs beat Chicago...Kieth was a -1, Kane a -3...but no Chicago fan threw them under a bus.  They didn't drop from contender to pretender in one loss.

The high and mighty leaf fan lol

Its been all year. Gardiner sucks and they wont win with him. Its baffling how some people dont get that

WTF?? Bring those other guys back!!    Angry

As I have said before, it's not that they lose, it's how they lose. All-round f'n pathetic.

The media seems to go easy on him. Social media has a real love hate relationship with Gards.

This screenshot of tweets only 4 days apart pretty much sums up Leaf Twitter's relationship with Jake Gardiner.

I seriously doubt he will ever be considered for the Norris.
He should be a winger, his best hockey is skating up the ice with puck and going on the offensive

I meant more so by the coaching staff. He was terrible on the pp all night including blundering that SH goal.

What does Babs do. Puts him back out there like nothing happened. At the very least he should have put Zaitsev out there in place of Gardiner on the PP. Send a message.

He really should be a winger. He has never been strong defensively. Rarely lays a hit on anyone at any time. Isn't that a big part of playing D ? He just seems to be more focused on breaking out which is only a small part of that position. Yes, he is good at that most of the time but.........

Our D needs work... that's been clear for some time. We need a rock back there... Tanev for example to steady things. But, it's far more than the D core, or Gardiner... everyone played like hot garbage last night, and the team D was horrid... but it's been that way all year. Despite the record, you can tell Babcock hasn't been happy. It isn't the record, it's the way they play... eventually it catches up to you.

Gardiner can be a very good D man, but he also makes some big mistakes. Far less than a Burns, or Karlsson who are giveaway machines...but if you have the puck on your stick and an offensive mind, you are going to lose the puck, and sometimes be in the wrong spot.

As a team we need to be better, and we need a rock on D....

At least with Burns and EK they are giving you 60 to 70 pts a year. Gardiner gets you what 40? maybe and that is on a far better offensive team than the Sens or Sharks. They also can play rock solid in their own end something I dont ever attribute to Gardiner.

My opinion is that we don't really need any new players - we just need the ones we have (not all of them) to show up for every game ....

We've still got work to do boys.  Andersen and the team's defence needs to be better.  Not just one or two guys everyone forwards included.  Going to be a long season with ups and downs so

"all year"???? Its been a week and a half!!! Four games played.

We all knew the Defence was the weak link and "bag skating them" does NOTHING to change that.

Under the NHL and NHLPA are they still allowed to “bag skate” the players, not withstanding what purpose would it serve?
