Saturday NHL odds: Maple Leafs underdogs vs. Capitals

The Toronto Maple Leafs will be looking to stay perfect on the road in the early going of the NHL season when they hit the ice in Washington on Saturday to take on the Stanley Cup champion Capitals as small +100 underdogs on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

The high-powered Toronto offence rolled along during the first three dates on the team’s current four-game road trip, racking up 19 total goals in victories over Chicago, Dallas, and Detroit, and lifting the club to the top of the NHL standings going into Saturday night’s Maple Leafs versus Capitals betting matchup at Capital One Arena.

The Maple Leafs’ red-hot 4-1-0 start has bolstered their position as +700 favourites on the Stanley Cup odds. However, Toronto has struggled in recent clashes with Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals, recording just one win in their past six overall meetings, while being limited to two or fewer goals in each of their past five.

The Capitals hit the ice as -120 chalk in Saturday’s contest, and are unbeaten in two home dates so far this season. Washington, though, has struggled with consistency in the early going, falling to defeat in two road outings, capped by a 6-0 loss in New Jersey as a +100 wager on Thursday night.

An interesting early season test for our boys. The caps play that heavy game , albeit without Tom Wilson tonite.

I would like to see our skill and speed overcome potential chippy play.

Ennis trajectory is not going in the direction he hoped for.

First line to start, then third or fourth, now press box. Next stop, waivers/Marlies, especially when Nylander comes back.

Johnsson better pick it up tonight or he might be going back to the Marlies.

Hainsey shouldn't be our 2nd RHD, let alone our first.
Oi vey.

hopefully we win 8-7 tonight, boys.
O' for a good life, we just might have to weaken

Johnsson needs to clear waivers which he obviously won't so his days of playing for the Marlies are over.

Though Brown looked good last game.  Personally I'd run

Marleau Matthews Kappy
Hyman Tavares Marner
Johnsson Kadri Brown
Lindholm Goat Leivo

I'd sign up for that right now! Caps have been hit or miss so far this year. I expect a much better effort from them tonight at home on a Saturday night. As good as the Leafs have been up front... that Caps top six is pretty sick. Could be a barn burner! GO LEAFS GO!!

The two on one was zaitsev fault. Horrible pinch.

That deal looks worse and worse every day

Gotta score. Rotate Tavares and Matthews lines.

Lindholm is looking better by the period. There is a lot more offensive upside there than I thought. Super smart player.

Just missed his first but I have a feeling it's not far off.

Noticeable difference with tonites opponent. Washington clearly ready to play and this will be a challenge.

Except for the horrible start, a decent period by the boys. Lots of game left. We are far from out of it!

Outside of the first 20 secs that was a pretty even period. Oz is looking more comfortable on the back end
