The Stockton Heat
#61
Jankowski scores twice and Gillies makes 41 saves in a 4-1 opening might victory over the Bakersfield Condors (Edmonton affiliate).

Janko is going to make it difficult for the Flames to keep him down there!

I think Janko will be on the team by the end of the season. Tre pretty much said as soon as there is an injury or a trade he will be called up.

Wow, the Heat's top line of Mangiapane, Jankowski, and Hathaway are lighting it up down there even if in a losing cause. The Heat lost 6-4 to San Josey last night.

Don't look now, but young Mangiapane (LW) is the leading scorer for Stockton (10 pts in 6 games). Don't look now, but Garnet Hathaway is tied with Mark Jankowski in goals and points (8 pts. in 6 games, 5 goals).

I'm thinking it would be long before we see one or three of these guys up with the club. I've got a good feeling about Mangiapane.

Mangiapane and Hathaway keep on chugging down in Stockton. We lost in a shootout, but got a point.

http://stocktonheat.com/news/mangiapanes...san-diego/

Mangiapane has 12 points now in 7 games and is +8. Hathaway 9 points in 7 games and is +10.

And holy sheep dip! Stockton has a 6'7" 235 lb. D by the name of Oleg Yevenko. 3rd year in AHL.

The Heat keep on bringing it in the AHL.

http://stocktonheat.com/news/gillies-mak...n-shutout/

Don't look now LW on the Flames, but Mangiapane is lighting it up down there, He leads the AHL in scoring with 14 points (5G 9A ) in 8 games and don't look now Flames RW, but Garnet Hathaway in 8th in leagues scoring with 10 points (6G 4A) in 8 games.

The way I figure it if they even scored 1/3 of that in the NHL they be better than what we've been seeing from our 3rd and 4th line slugs of late.

Mangiapane, the CCM/AHL Player of the Month, has begun the season with a nine-game scoring streak for Stockton, recording five goals and 10 assists for 15 points to go with a plus-10 rating.

Eric the F. always on the forefront of Flames news. Not a bad article though.

Bad news is that Mangiapane was held pointless for the first time this season. Good news is that Hathaway is developing into an offensive threat and Rittich had his second SO this young season.

This kid will be in Stockton next season - Flames draft choice Matthew Phillips -
http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/juniors/c...-team-whl/

CHL Notebook: Royals’ Matthew Phillips one to watch on Team WHL

"Of all the reasons to follow the CIBC Canada Russia Series, which begins tonight in Moose Jaw, Sask., with Team WHL facing Russia (Sportsnet One, 8 p.m. ET), the biggest is to see whether a top scorer such as Phillips (CGY) can make a bid to make the grade for Team Canada. In all honestly, in any season a good 14 or 15 positions on Canada’s 22-player roster are self-evident, based on retention and who came close as an 18-year-old,"

Garney has a 4 point night! If I were Brouwer I'd be looking over my shoulder. Way to go Garney! He is now 2nd in team scoring behind Mangiapane.

Meanwhile down on the farm, young Monsieur Poirier had a 3 assist night and Shinkamarinkado scores twice and shows tenacity. Great after game comments from Coach Huska.
