The Year In Sports 2016
2016 was a sh!tshow if you look at the news cycle this year on the world stage; so much tragedy & sadness & negativity. And I haven't even mentioned the Presidential Election Campaign.  Silly

But....2016 was actually a pretty good year for sports; a lot of memorable moments to saviour:

- Peyton Manning leads the Broncos to victory in Super Bowl 50...then retires from the NFL after 18 seasons
- Villanova wins the NCAA Men's Basketball National Title in dramatic fashion, beating North Carolina 77-74( Kris Jenkins sinks a 3-pointer at the buzzer to win the title for Villanova )
- Sidney Crosby leads the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Stanley Cup, leads Team Canada to victory in the World Cup of Hockey, winning MVP honors on both occasions
- All 7 Canadian NHL teams miss the playoffs( only 2nd time ever no Canadian teams make the playoffs )
- LeBron James leads the Cleveland Cavaliers to their 1st NBA Title, rallying to beat the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals( also 1st championship for the city of Cleveland in 52 years )
- Toronto Raptors enjoy their most successful NBA season, reaching the Eastern Conference Finals for the 1st time
- Rio Olympic Summer Games: Michael Phelps & Usain Bolt retire as two of the greatest Olympians of all time, while swimmer Penny Oleksiak & sprinter Andre De Grasse lead Canada's Medal haul
- Chicago Cubs win their 1st World Series since 1908, rallying to beat the Cleveland Indians in 7 games
- Ottawa RedBlacks win the Grey Cup( 1st Grey Cup for the city of Ottawa in 40 years )
- Toronto FC reaches the MLS Cup Final for the 1st time ever( lose to Seattle in the Final )

Portugal sneaking out the Euro was unexpected too but probably not exciting unless you lived on Dundas St.
